1. Snap to Grid for nodes in the Nodegraph Editor, with a user-definable grid spacing. With all of the connector lines going everywhere, it would be nice to have a quick, snap-able system to put things in a tidy order, as much as possible.

2. An Unseen-by-Camera checkbox for objects in Standalone. For instance, putting a mesh-emitter in the scene without itself being visible to the camera. Visible in reflections'refractions is not as important to me as putting the emitter in an ideal location in front of the camera, which is therefore, in the way of the scene.

Noted.

You can set this in the object layer node: https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/products/ ... ayer-node/

Hi treddie,

I will be implementing the grid snap system for nodes in the Nodegraph Editor. Could you please let me know some more detail of the system, you are looking for?.

Thanks

Hi Vj.

Thank you for taking this on!

Pretty much just a simple snap to grid system. In Preferences, the user could scale the grid to his/her desire. So the Node Editor would need to be based on some scale in order for it to work at all zoom levels. For instance, snap points every 1 mm, or every 10mm, etc.. The grid need not be visible, unless the user wants it. Then, when the user moves a node, it snaps to the closest grid line. A snap tolerance might be handy so that the nodes can still be moved smoothly up to the snap tolerance, just like the conventional snap systems in other programs like Illustrator and Photoshop.

I hope that helps! :)

Great!

I would also like to suggest, since you are working on the nodegraph:
to add the posibility of changing the color of the group nodes, currently they are only reddish, they could change color like the "note" nodes.

We usually organize all the nodes in the scene inside groups with inputs and outputs, so it would be great they could have different colors to be easier to distinguish between them.

Kind regards

I would like the snapping aswell!

Another suggestion if that's ok:

In Blueprint of Unreal Engine 4 you can place background elements and give them a title:

Would love to have that for Octane to keep things more organised. The background objects don't relate to whats in there, the user just places a box (x, y, width, height) and gives it a title.

Noted down. We will try to add these features in future versions.

Thanks
