I wish your optimism gets true and we have a great compability with octane.
I just read the whole post and I think I'm still correct on my marks...
It's not just compability problem. That's purely depending on Octane's noisy renders.
Also for example octane still does not support (UV)W mapping. Meaning you cannot change color or reflective attributes of the hair Root - to - Tip. Unless you change the hair to mesh in Ornatrix. Like Rikk The Gaijin did in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56140
And I have asked for these maybe 3 years ago.
And now we have an unknown brand new developer for max...
I'm just saying that you and I will have to wait a lot longer to get this request.

As you can see - at last we can render hair without set viewport count to 100%!!! Please don't pay attention to braid. Because Andrey create it with Guide as Hair Root distribution method =) Then we saw it as 100% hair in viewport =) But other hair he made with Random Area Based and he set 5% hair in viewport!! And we see 100% hair in Octane --- which didn't exist in early version when I created this post =) So OTOY Team work on this Request!!! I'm very Happy!

He make amazing hair quality. But this hair was rendered in Vray. But. Andrey promised, set next hair he will render in Octane =) Because he very happy too, that OTOY added this feature =)
