Will we be able to render smoke, fire, water and foam in octane render for 3ds max ? I heard that there was something going on between Chaos Group and Otoy for octane to render their volumetrics plugin

We are in contact With ChaosGroup, and getting PhoenixFD 3.0 (now that it has been released) supported in Octane for 3ds Max is on our list.

How about supporting reading .aur files directly in octane stand alone? (phoenix volume format.) it should be accessable and "open" according to chaosgroup.

Yes it will, and we have already acquired a licence for dev. However, our priority at the moment is to make the plugin stable ASAP.

This is a possibility, but we want to ensure that we also have shader info, and I'm not sure at this point if .aur would include that info.

It would be for octane SA so that we did not need to convert from aur to vdb. *which is not yet possible, so right now it is impossible to use octane standalone with phoenixFD...
