I hope there will be a fix soon. It's really important for CAD models. Sometimes i bake modos rounded edge to a normal map. But that works only for simple geometry.

Thats a shame how many years will this be a broken feature? Seems to have no priority.
We are aware of the issues with rounded edges and this is a priority in our roadmap.
We will be starting working on what will probably be a completely new implementation shortly. Do not expect however to be ready in matter of weeks as it is not a trivial thing to do.

yes please fix it or remove it from features set. i'm trying to use this again and again every few months. don't get it why this is still not yet fixed after such a long time. it would be a great feature if working and was one of the reasons to use octane as an engine.

Where would you guys need this? Got some example? I can make a script that does this if there is enough demand for it.

It's critical for anyone that does any type of product renderings that come from CAD. Most CAD is not filleted on all sharp edges so you end up with a very fake looking render unless you round those edges. Most projects dont allow enough time to full retopo a complex CAD object to get softer edges. You could fillet in CAD, but that is also alot of work unless you have the source files and a good understanding of it because some shapes are pretty complex surfaces.Phantom107 wrote:Where would you guys need this? Long story short the only reason I dont use octane for production is because they are taking their sweet time fixing something thats been broke for over a year and a half. They are too busy cramming new shit in I could really care less about. Kind of a shame.

That makes me very happy indeed!mojave wrote:@sethRichardson
You'll then be happy to know we have already started working on a new improved implementation
