Can you make Depth of field... deeper?
It's very, very narrow no matter what I do - like I'm using a 85 mm lens almost wide open, though I'm actually using a very wide angle.
The Aperture function only seems to increase or decrease the amount of blur; not change the actual depth. E.g. if I have three objects 2, 3, and 4 meter away from the camera, only one of them is crystal sharp.
I would like to blur out far away objects and keep everything in the foreground sharp, like you do with a conventional camera.
Am I missing a way to adjust DOF other than Aperture and Distance?
Depth Of Field question...

Is your scene scale 1:1?
On what f-stop are you working? If you want to simulate a real camera, kind of stick with 2.8.
The field of view + scale of view parameters as well influence your "dof".

Yes, scale is 1:1 - but what do you mean by f-stop? Can you set that anywhere? Or do you mean Aperture (in Octane lingo)?
If it is possible to set an actual f-stop, then I would like something at the other end, like f/11 or f/16.
As for FOV, that's grayed out, but that's not related to DOF, is it?

Well if you adjust the parameters you can manually try to get the effect you want using octane lingo
Adjusting the field of view and aperture you could get the results you want I think?
In standalone we have these settings

I've never used the standalone version, and I simply don't have the time to learn it now (I also don't know if it can't be used for Blender animations?). But that's definitely a lot of features, compared to the Blender plugin. And again, the Field of View parameters are grayed out and I'm not sure they would affect DOF.
Using the plugin, I think it's hard to get something in between the two images you posted; either everything is in focus, or just a tiny sliver like a real-life f/1.2 or something. OK, that's a bit exaggerated, and the renders are certainly beautiful, I would just like to able to do what I can do with my camera.
