Hi all,

In modo when you don't want a texture to tile on your model you have this great solution called edge. It gives quick results when placing masks which can be adjusted later in UV editor.
I did not found this in Octane, the option Border Mode don't have this :( maybe you have a solution :?:
In the example I would like to adjust the roughness with a gradient but without creating a special gradient for each model of bottles where I will place it at different levels.
But maybe it's possible with an Octane's gradient? For now I don't understand how to imput the gradient`s coordinates in 3D space.

Thanks!

Hi - I'm not sure I understand your specific question - sorry. The texture edge mode is just controlled what color the textures is for UV's outside the 0, 1 are.

Also, for a scene that dark, make sure you reduce the Path Termination Power to minimise noise.

Assuming you're talking about Horizontal/Vertical Repeat, these are the correspondences:

Reset → Black color or White color
Repeat → Wrap around
Mirror → Mirror
Edge → Clamp value

Thanks Paul, Roeland for the info.

I think it's a bug in the Octane for modo plugin:
Attached is what I did (image + scene), what I expected finally worked but if you close the preview window and open it one more time the ClampValue is not working anymore and the gradient returns to tiled mode as my example shows.
Also I have exported this scene to Octane standalone and there the Border mode is set to Wrap Around. So definitly the modo plugin does not saves this ClampValue :|

Are you able to send me the scene pls? I can then take a closer look.

In order for the Octane clamp value to work, you need to set the grad_16b image locator "Horizontal Repeat" and "Vertical Repeat" to Reset. At the moment they are repeating, so the texture repeats/wraps for UV's outside the 0-1 range. Then set the Border Mode to Black Color in the Octane RGB Image node.

Thanks Paul,

This image locator setting in modo not helped. Setting the border mode to Black Color works fine for enabling a "repeating black edge" below my gradient/UV but not repeats my white value above :|
And again if I close the preview window or export the scene to Octane standalone the Border Mode values are reset to 0 = wrap around :!:
Attached is my two results.

Thank you for the additional info. This is certainly a bug - which I think is now fixed in the version below:

3.3.4.114 (pre-release)
- Fixed issue where setting the Border Mode with Black Color was not working after a scene refresh

Sorry, it stills not memorize the ClampValue correctly :(
Also in the newest modo Alpha the plugin crashes when i select a material workspace from the test scene you have.
