Is there a way in the daemon setup of the network render to exclude a video card from the pool, I have a small card that I don't want to be used in the render ,I see you can do a list in the daemon set up , I guess my real question is how to I find the name of the cards so I can only use the one specified, I'm guessing use the name in the device manager. Thanks Aoktar any info would be appreciated and keep up the awesome work !!!!

Having exactly the same problem as you @ eyeonestudio!

My workaround was to set the volume step length from 4 to 2 or better to 1,5.

But i am sure, that it should work without that adjustments... would like to get some more infos too.

Have a nice day, Chriz

Hi guys,
it should work if the volume step length is the same for both the volumes.

Hi Aoktar & the community

I'm using magic solo, which creates dynamically a solo layer for the object you're working on, at the same time soloing the materials attached to it, very handy.
Unfortunately, for some obscures reasons, when I switch the solo off and I get all my objects and materials back, Octane re-render all materials, which on a big project is slowing me down and killing a lot my workflow.
Is there a workaround for it?

Thank you!

I think it recreates opengl and material previews when it needs. You can't avoid from this. But you can disable ogl and mat previews or decrease preview samples.

Hi Aoktar, thank you for the quick reply, always!

I did a quick tour video so you can see that, despite the fact that I unticked almost everything, it looks like it doesn't make any difference for my "issue".
Let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is something else that I should do :)

Thanks again!

Hello,

are there any hints how to get rid of these shadows with intersecting VDBs as mentioned by eyeonestudio? I am having several clouds too, and the more i understand how to tweak their look the way i would like them to look the more i run into this shadowproblem. I have searched for an answer, but i can´t find any solution. Please answer to my and eyeonestudios question. Make invisible for shadows does not work too...

Is this an actual limitation or where is the magic "make clouds pretty" button? :D

Thanks a lot!

Chriz

Hi Chriz and eyeonestudio,
I have revisited my test scene and I can confirm that there is an issue with overlapping volumes, in theory this is allowed with a maximum of four volumes, but some artifacts are visible even with two
Anyway, this is not a plugin related issue, but comes from SDK.
I'm going to prepare an orbx that shows the issue and share it with haze, I'll keep you informed.
ciao beppe
