@abstrax : I used international bank transfer for my last upgrade. It costed me around 120 Euros of bank fees to send 90 Euros to Otoy. I can't afford paying more than the cost of the license in fees. The fees include the sending fee, plus the withdrawal fee on your side, taken on my charge.

Sorry, but if you don't do anything about that with Paypal, I fear that I will not be able to upgrade.

What is strange is that sometimes when you pay with Paypal the option to pay without an account is offered. So maybe this option is disabled by default and can be activated by the vendor ? Paypal wants customers and will push the vendors not to use it by hiding this possibilty. I suggest OTOY to deeply inspect the selling options in their paypal account.

@bblogoss : Yes, I investigated, and it seems to be the case. Paying through Paypal service with a credit card is an option of Paypal. I didn't found a manual in english, but a document in french says that there is just a checkbox in the preferences of the vendor's Paypal account to allow payment without Paypal account !

There is also an option proposed to the vendors, named "PayPal Intégral Evolution", allowing more possibilities.

No, you cannot. PayPal account is needed.
Yes you can,
As I said, it's up to the vendor to activate the option "let the client pay with credit card, without a Paypal account"
https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/account-optional

BUT (and that a big BUT) there is numerous ways that this option is not available on the page:

- Otoy may have mistakenly deactivate the option on his vendor paypal account, or deactivate it on purpose.
- Your country may not accept this option (but in France its ok)
- A lot of technical reasons mainly, apparently the option may be available when you come first but not later, (you have to delete the paypal cookie)
- ect (just google it)

@ROUBAL
just Ask Otoy to activate the option on their paypal account if it's not,
or if it is, delete your paypal cookie, or google the numerous possible issues but you already know aparently ;)

I tried with several navigators on several computers with different OS, removed all cookies before connecting to Otoy... No change : Paypal account needed.

So you may have to ask Otoy to enable the option.
(To investigate I logged in Paypal new-zealand and curiously the otpion is not documented there, that may be the issue, but better to ask support)

Also this page is very informative on all possible issues with this option:

@Calus : Thank you for the very interesting link ! I hope that someone at Otoy will read it. I sent a message at the support to ask them to enable the option.

Well, I have got some news. I tried something I tried some time ago when I encountered the same trouble for a purchase in an other country. At this time the trick didn't work, and the transaction aborted, so it has not been the first thing that came to my mind this time : I changed the country in the Country field (it is not indicated if it is the country of the client or the country of the seller, but I assumed that as it allows to change the language, it was the country of the client). I chosed new Zealand instead of my own country, and as the language is english, it is not a problem. I got the possibility to purchase without a Paypal account (it is displayed Optional, and doesn't ask to create a password for Paypal).

There is a little drawback though : the Country in the shipping adress displays New Zealand, instead of France, but as it is an electronic shipping, it doesn't matter much.

Thinking of it afterward, I don't know if the unavailability of the option when France is selected is just a matter of Paypal option in vendor's account or linked to a possible french law... I wonder if selecting an other country is perfectly legal ?

Any update on this? Can we get OTOY to change that Credit Card option or do I have to pay more and wait longer by doing a Bank Transfer?

@Rikk The Gaijin : Have you tried to cheat by selecting New Zealand as country ? It worked for me and as the language is english it is not a problem (it would have been different if they were in Japan, as I couldn't have been able to read the payment form !).

Otoy said that it was the best solution. They didn't tell me if they planned to modify something in their system.

It doesn't work, as soon as I enter my address it changes back to my country...
