Hi,

Just found out about Modos Texture switch node when I was looking for somthing like 3Ds Max MaterialByElement Modifier or som random texture placement plugin.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/ ... D-htm.html

Is there anything like this for Octane / Modo or is there a way to get Modos Texture switch node to work in Octane ?

Would love this functionallity when working with architecture.

Somthing like this, but I can not connect them...

I think you could just plugin the two images into an Octane Mix node.

Hi Paul,

Can mix texture randomly place different textures on different meshes/objects in the same material? If so, that's exactly what I am looking for.

Unfortunately not. However there is a random color node, which will randomly color instances in an Octane Scatter node (ie. from a Mesh Instance or a Replicator). So if for example the windows need to be different lightnesses, make them generated from a Replicator and the random color node should work. See Random Color Texture at https://docs.otoy.com/#60Octane%202.0%20Features

This would be so nice to have, the colors show only how the randomness of the textures are applied.

This is not available at the moment in Octane. However I would think it would be trivial to setup a texturemap to do what you want (with Gimp or Photoshop), or bake out the texturemap from Modo.

Hello,

Do you think this node ( or a Octane's equivalent ) will be implemented at some point ? With the Variation Texture or also an equivalent ?

You will need to submit this to Otoy as a feature request. It's not something that I can implement without it being supported in the native Octane renderer.

Still no random texture/material function like the one in 3ds Max "MaterialByElement" ?
