Hello everyone!
I need to create many fabric materials in high resolution.
So, I have to create different textures normalmap, bump map or height map. In other cases I need to highlight details such as cloth, eg agnellato plaid.
Starting with a high-res image, how do I proceed?...(Obviously not these)

THANKS ALL!

Hi Syd_86,
if you could be more specific about your workflow...
Do you already have the textures or you have to produce them with Octane?
What is the octane version used?
For example, if you work in Standalone and you alteady have the textures, you can have a Lua script that automate the material creation based on the texture name

Hello Beppe, :)
I have, OR 2, OR 3 alpha (Standalone)
I will photograph the cloth, then I place the image on photoshop and create the seams...then, i have the image of the color (diffuse).
I need to create bump maps, displacement map for High Definition.
How can I add details, like threads of a fabric? (Image 2) ... octane can not import. Or am I wrong?
How to proceed tips? to create all the textures? .. and for details visible on the second picture? How do I create them?
How to isolate weaving of the texture? to use it in normal maps, displacement map.
What can I do with Lua script? I don' t know.
Thanks! ;)

This is very interesting topic. I tried before to get very high quality photo-real fabrics, and didn't get 100% satisfying results.

I guess you should start experiment with textures, combine all the maps and see how it goes.
Post your progress here and i will be happy to assist you on my free time.

Hi Syd_86,
there are a lot of software that are designed to extract maps from a given image, here is the first one that comes to my mind:
http://www.crazybump.com
Some time ago, an user has posted a free GPU version but it seems that I cannot find the link, sorry.
Probably, there should be already scanned materials out there, I guess, maybe some other users can share some links
The detail of the wool could be done with a conjunction of displacement and hairs, I guess
Lua script could be useful only in a second time to automate the material creation, but the big work is on the texture side.

Yes! I know crazybump, ... no PixPlant
I also know KNALD, Shadermap ...
In this way I have to go to attempts. Maybe I need to get a better picture ...
It is simpler a 3D scan of each fabric and make a normal map / heightmap., and some tweaking of phosohop
... Too bad I have not a 3D scanner ... Diffuse map would not fit with the normalmap. Unless the scan can capture all of this information.

Use a DSLR camera at low ISO. Shoot the material (on a tripod) from different angels and reconstruct the texture in 3D Agisoft Photoscan. Export the obj to zbrush for further works.
