Hi folks,

I'm having an issue where my geometry (flat, non-trangulated) is rendering fine in live viewer but then totally messed up in final render. The final render looks like its ignoring the phong tag, but only on some surfaces?
There is a phong tag on the object and its set to 40 degrees. See attached. Version 2.24.2 Cinema R17

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Roger

Hi Ahmet,

Yes its Octane. I'll need to set up a scene with just that geometry as its big and under NDA. How do I send it to you only?

Thanks

Hi,
It seems related with "rounded edges" parameter. But i'm not sure why behaves different on final output. I'll take a look to understand.

I wondered that myself but turning off rounded edges didn't fix it for me. I'll take another look

Thanks

It can be fixed by turning off rounding on all surfaces that connect. However this is not idea as rounding is very useful. Its more interesting that it only happens in the main render window and not in live viewer.

Hi Ahmet,

I've rendered a few frames and discovered that rounding is causing errors on other surfaces/objects when rendered in picture viewer, even though they look fine in the live view window.

I'm turning it off on everything for now just to be safe.

Only potential issue in plugin is wrong unit calculation for final output. Rest of problem is about renderer. I suppose that guys will say don't use it on problematic meshes.
