If you have a support issue, can you pls provide all the info requested in the first post of this thread, and give me an exact workflow (ie. keystrokes!) that I can follow to reproduce the error.it seems to freeze

I've had this issue starting with v2.x. No one ever got back with anything useful. The lag starts as soon as the viewport is opened. It appears to be worst with parented figures. I made sure real time mesh smoothing is OFF on everything. It also appears to be updating the geometry in OCDS regardless of the LIVE option being OFF. Once the preview is ON, the problem begins and never stop until DS retarts.face_off wrote:I'm sorry - I haven't seen anyone else having this issue. Have you trying unticking Don't Load Render Settings, Environments and Unused Materials in the Preferences tab?I thought other people were discussing it, but I'm not sure. Moving something in DS lags about a second or so which is extremely annoying. It is easy to misinterpret as a DS issue since it also occurs when you don't actively use Octane. But the only fix I found, is having a second version of DS installed without Octane and use that to move stuff in the scene.
Am I the only one having this issue???

Have you tried unticking Octane->Preferences->Don't Load Render/Environment/Project Settings in order to clear out all the unused nodes?I've had this issue starting with v2.x. You will need to post this question in the Octane Standalone 3.0 alpha 4 thread. But first make sure both PC's are running the same Nvidia drivers (I recommend 358.50).and another small problem with network rendering that shows up sometimes, wonder if there is a way to avoid this... or better WHY does that happen?
I have not, but I'll give that a try. However, would that affect performance on the DS viewport if LIVE is disabled?face_off wrote:Have you tried unticking Octane->Preferences->Don't Load Render/Environment/Project Settings in order to clear out all the unused nodes?I've had this issue starting with v2.x. Out of curiosity, is it only with certain things, or everything? I have noticed (even using a copy of Daz untouched by Octane, ever), that some newer stuff is causing... strange behavior in the Daz viewport. My settings for the Daz viewport are always as bare-bones as they get for speed (I leave the texture-shaded setting as a nicety to my eyes, pretty much everything else is off or down as far as possible), regardless. Similarly, parenting complex objects to each other now tends to lead to sometimes excessively long hangs while Daz Studio takes far longer than it did before (this started in 4.8 for me, and I think it has to do with iRay pre-caching geometry or something for rendering, as my GPUs tend to show activity during this hanging period every time, but it's only a hunch at this point). I've noticed this particularly with parenting say, a Genesis 3 Female to another character/prop/anything. It may just be on my system though, which is why I ask.vortex3d wrote: I have not, but I'll give that a try. However, would that affect performance on the DS viewport if LIVE is disabled?
It doesn't do this with every figure. The scene contains about 4 figures parented to a group hierarchy and 3 out of them will be horribly slow to manipulate after a quick OCDS preview. I also made absolutely certain real time smoothing is always OFF since the effect reminds me of it being ON.sikotik13 wrote:Out of curiosity, is it only with certain things, or everything? Once you open the OctaneRender window, even after you close it, Octane will continue rendering, and geometry changes will be being transferred to Octane. I have asked t_3 how I can change the plugin behavior to STOP Octane rendering once the Viewport is closed, but not heard back. Try setting Final Render ON and see if that resolves the issue. Also, does re-opening your current duf scene fix the issue? Finally - if you can give me a scene which does this which just has the standard Genesis figures in it - I can investigate further. It doesn't do this with every figure. Having said all that Paul... what the hell does "Final" do? rally mean? affect the render?...????face_off wrote:Once you open the OctaneRender window, even after you close it, Octane will continue rendering, and geometry changes will be being transferred to Octane.
