Hi! Have you tried rendering in Render Queue?DigitalOven wrote:I can definitely send a sample scene ... since I got my current file rendering and I really want to let it finish but will make one once it is done (render is 12 hours).
Since the current file is working it may not be a good test case ... I will check the last versions and find one that hopefully always freezes but will take a little trial and error ... so it will likely be sometime tomorrow.
Looks like a similar issue to one pxlntwrk and Asym93 had ... though Asym93 mentioned renderpasses and I am not using those.
most telling thing I noticed was the lines in the log that only seemed to show up when freezing:
image 1 doesn't match image 0 for render pass 'Beauty'
expected tonemap type 2 but got tonemap type 0
BTW, Aoktar, could you explain a little about the difference between rendering in Render Queue and rendering in Picture Viewer? Is it using more system resources or something special...?
That render queue issue is causing me a lot trouble these days. So if you can explain a little about it, maybe I'll be able to do more specific tests here to help narrow down the possible reason.
Thanks!

Difference is not meanful for users. It's about internal workflow of C4D and plugin.Asym93 wrote:BTW, Aoktar, could you explain a little about the difference between rendering in Render Queue and rendering in Picture Viewer? Is it using more system resources or something special...?

I'll run some render queue tests when i'm free. But to narrow down the issue that's better to give me some scenes if it's possible. Also always i wish to get some bugreports.

I just saw the suggestion to try Render Que and did that .... saw that it was freezing in que as well. Seems to be freezing when I have LV open (more below).
I have included a test file along with the Octane Log output when it freezes.
I am still running Test6, still haven't updated to R1 or the latest patch (had a quick turnaround job run through today).
Mac OSX Mavericks, R17.048
In investigating and finding the most consistent way to make it freeze, I was able to reduce the size of my project file (deleted a huge space station
and generate a file that I can get to freeze fairly consistently in the following way.
open file and hit render to picture viewer … works fine … quit render
open LV (but did not load scene into LV) and hit render to PV … works fine … quit render
load scene to LV and hit render to PV … freezes
sometimes it does not freeze when I load up LV but if I add a simple cube to scene (note that I do NOT hit the "Send your Scene and Restart New Render" button) ... then when I render to PV it freezes
it will also start freezing if I add an object and see "updating" in LV and hit render button while LV is still updating
The "progress bar" goes to about 98% on second frame and then just stops .... I know it is freezing when I see:
image 1 doesn't match image 0 for render pass 'Beauty'
and occasionally I see
expected tonemap type 2 but got tonemap type 0
I will try your latest release later tonight.
Hope this information helps, it's an awesome plugin and a delight to use and completely understand little bumps like this one
If it's more "Mac related" or something else, looks like not leaving LV up when rendering seems to fix it.

Downloaded and installed R1.1 version ... tested same file I uploaded and it still freezes on second frame of render once I open LV ... renders fine if I close LV.

Hi,
I actually ran into problems with this release:
- It would render without problems without multipass, but with multipass turned on it would send the scene to the GPU and then just say 'frame finished' on a black frame.
- I found it much less stable, and immediately ran into several crashes on scenes that had previous worked fine.
Thanks for the new release, though I wish it were tested more before being called 'stable' as trying to use it has just wasted me load of time, and I've had to reconstruct scenes!

We had a TEST topic for this. I did all changes on this topic and published. Desperately i have waited and asked for feedbacks. No bug reports means that's stable. So i don't shape this plugin that you are.MoGrafik wrote:Hi,
