I'm looking to find a way to make some kind of iridescent material in octane (c4d). Thought it might help to come here for some advice.

In case you're not sure what iridescent is, it's when the colours or appearance of an object change as the positioning of the lighting or the viewing angle change.

This effect is known as "Thin-film interference", essentially what is happening is light is either being reflected from the top surface of a transparent "Film" or hitting the bottom and reflecting from there instead, this results in a colour split.

The nice people from Otoy have made this super easy to simulate using the Film Width setting :) just give it a black to white input, so a noise or in your case, falloff would give a good effect:
