the PDF manual is in the start menu, next to the octane render link in the refractive software group.

can you try to find a way we could reproduce this ?

I have tried ever fix i can find for nv4_disp problems which there seem to be many of.
Sorry not luck so far in finding away for you too reproduce this, but I have noticed that its seems only to be when textures or hdris are involved or added i.e the chess set always locks. No problem with space ships, octane axis and benchmark, and simple obj from sketchup with no textures just colours, then if I start adding textures, hdris etc the machines very soon locks up.
Hi Radiance - I'm bit stuck using the software as still keeps freezing even with latest beta. on certain obj, and then I have to reboot again :!: . I'm still trying and will try to find solution somehow. Nobody else seems to have the problem from reading most of the posts.
Strangely if I load the spaceships from the demo suite as obj, no problem it renders fine, if I load it as ocs from demo suite it freezes when rendering. :?

it's maybe because heavier scenes cause the issue ?
(eg with pathtracing on).

i'd recommend for you to upgrade to a x64 operating system, like windows 7.
you'll be able to turn the watchdog completely off with the tdrlevel = 0 registry setting that our installer sets on vista and windows 7, and you'll be able to load far larger models.

Found crash 2-3 time nearly.
In same file same object with 308235 Triangles
1.When i save finished render picture. Maybe picture's size too big (3008x2000 not sure).
2.Program slow down while i use. slow down until close itself. Have to close program and open again 2 time.

Question.
I add .obj to octane and save to .ocs then i delete .obj file. When i open .ocs file why program ask for .obj file again? Program still need .obj file?

Hi,

Octane uses the OBJ file in a linked way, so you need to keep the OBJ file, it is not embedded in the OCS file.
If you delete it, you're OCS file can't find it anymore and will ask with a dialog where it is.

About the stability issues, those are abnormal. Maybe a temperature issue ?
I'd download and install the freely available (google for it / registration required) 'evga precision' tool to see if you're GPU is'nt overheating. maybe try lowering the clockspeed a little bit and see if it still does it,
otherwise, try installing the latest drivers from the nvidia main page.

Hi, Radiance

I try to work same file again without change anything. I open and change preview resolution to any size. It's seem to be ok now.

About your advise i'll test it.
1. I'm not sure about "lowering the clockspeed". Did you mean overclock cpu or gpu speed? But i used original cpu and gpu speed only.
2. I'll try new Nvidia driver and 'EVGA precicion' tool.
Thanks again.

Radiance means under clocking if you have temperature issues.
Maybe 5% less clock speed or so.

Cheers mib

you should also try the path tracing kernel as your render does'nt look very correct at all with directlighting,
and due to the very short AO distance in that image i also think that you're model is too big,
it's probably 10 or 100x to big.

you should check with a text editor and open your OBJ file to see if you can make out in what kind of units you're exporting and make sure you have units in meters in the OBJ file, otherwise you should change this in your 3d app before exporting, or change it in octane's OBJ import preferences panel before importing the OBJ file.

Maybe because i didn't set units in meters.
Now, i rendering the path tracing kernal, set AO=15, resolution 1280x960 got little slow but everything ok. Wait for finish render.

Thanks radiance and mib2berlin.
