Hi Aoktor,
Thanks for the latest stable release.
Here I'm having a render queue issue: I'm having a scene rendering in render queue. It renders several frames and then got stuck. C4D doesn't respond and I have to kill C4d in the task manager. This happened randomly. Sometimes it got stuck after rendering 10 frames, sometimes after rendering for an hour.
But I previously set the same scene to only render JPG main image for preview and render queue works fine, never gets stuck. Now I set the output to EXR main image and EXR multi-pass. This issue happened(several times for rendering one scene, restart C4d, render, stuck, restart, render, stuck). But rendering the same scene with the same EXR settings to Picture Viewer working fine and never gets stuck.
So I'm very confused. I wonder what could possibly cause the problem. Is there some special logic behind the render queue?
Software Info:
C4D R16.050/ Octane 2.24.2 R1(this happens in previous versions too)
This is not specific to scene I'm rendering, I have other scenes with same render settings running into the same issue.
Thanks!
Render queue freezes and C4d doesn't respond

There is some little differences on Render queue for our plugin.
But i can't check it atm, sorry. I have to investigate last release. Please send me a scene to check it.

The project I'm working on is a short animation film. The scenes are quite large with a lot of texture maps, Xrefs, Mograph cache...... But I'll see if I can set up a sample scene for you.
Right now I have to render as much shots as possible at night, but what I can only do now is to set a clock, get up at 3 am. Manually start the render of next scene to picture viewer.......
So what's your suggestion? I'm quite curious about the difference of render queue. Is there a way around? Or any suggestion to avoid this.
I really appreciate your help.
Go with a latest TEST or last stable version else of 2.24.2 R1. Check Console window and Octane log window for errors. You have to tweak your scenes to avoid any Cuda errors. I have no idea about content of your scene.

Ok, thank you. Let me try these and see what I can catch from the octane log.aoktar wrote:Go with a latest TEST or last stable version else of 2.24.2 R1. Do some quick test with lowres and low samples.

Hi Aoktar, aoktar wrote:Do some quick test with lowres and low samples.
I switched back to 2.24.2 Test6 and did two tests:
Test 1: I rerendered one shot of my project. It got stuck after rendering 10 minutes. The log looks like this. There is no Cuda error in this: Test 2: I set up a very simple scene with the render settings from Test1. It got stuck after rendering 16 minutes.
The scene file is attached and here is a screen capture of it (Sorry it lasts too long, I sped up the video).
Again no Cuda error. I can't find the reason.

Thanks again.

It seems like a random error. Sometimes goes fine. Most likely it's related with render passes. Do you play with any scene on same C4D copy while rendering queue?

Exactly, it happens randomly and if rendering without multi-pass, it won't freeze.aoktar wrote:It seems like a random error. Sometimes goes fine. Most likely it's related with render passes. Do you play with any scene on same C4D copy while rendering queue?
"play with any scene on same C4D copy while rendering queue" Do you mean working on other scenes while render queue is running in the background? No, I left the computer rendering alone. Only render queue is running. And I often find it freeze when I come back after a while. Quite frustrating.....
don't worry. I'm trying to find the reason.
