Hi,
maybe someone knows whats going on.
Since a few month I have the problem, that the cloner-setup gets
totally messed up, when checking render-instances.
I. have an object cloned linear to get a row/pattern and then that row is deformed
along a path via spline-wrap. Everything is fine until I check render-instances.
(but I need instances because of high polycount.)
I also get problems with render-instances in other situations.
Cannot remember having this kind of problems before.
Any idear?
thanks much!

sorry not octane related problem with render instances

Hi,
do you mean in this way? ciao beppe

Hi beppe,
its more complicated but similar to this. I need a very long stripe with high dense polys links/elements, which are
already also cloned (first cloner without "render instances" checkt)
As soon as I check render instances (for the stripe) it breaks.
But checking "render instances" should normally not change the mograph setup?
Or I'm wrong here?
Or is it a problem with R17 maybe?
I'll check with earlier version.
thanks

Ok, now I got it
here is a solution with instance object, the cloners does not have the render instance option active, only the instance objects have the option active: ciao beppe

Hi,
here is a different solution that deform the spline instead of the cloner: I had to add an xpresso to avoid an unwanted rotation, but it should works if you fine tuning it for your needs, at least I hope so

Hi Beppe,
oh thanks!
Cool idear to clone the instances (with render instances turned on) along a spline
and then wrap that spline around the helix!
Of course this helpes a lot, because I now can use render instances.
But anyway, do have any idear/explanation, why my setup (which worked for years)
does not work anymore?
Also some other mograph-stuff does not work anymore, when render instances are turned on.
thanks very much!

I think this never works with render instances. Because you use Spline deformer. There is a logical mistake. You can't deform somethings which are render instances. Try to use cloner->object->spline
