I saw another thread about this but not much discussion, so I thought I bring it up again. Is there anyway to round an edge with Octane? I specifically want to use Displacement of course and have the corners rounded. Think Stone/Rocks...

Can I use Dponts Shader somehow in the node tree? Thanks for any ideas.

Here is a sample of what I'm working on. You can see the sharp edge on the stone displacement....no good :(

Try having smooth on and having the angle way up above 90 degrees.

No unfortunately that doesn't work well. Something is going on but not predictable and doesn't look right. Tried several numbers. 90-110

Anyone else with something?

this is what i get with smoothing angle of 100.

Is your UV continuous around the corner?

Hmm...yea UV is continuous to adjacent edges. Maybe I'll try again...or since my texture is more organic it's just not showing up as well. I will say though...would still like it smoother than what you show.

As for modeling it... :( Should have Edge Rounding, it's pretty standard these days.

You mean you want the edge to be rounded? You wont get that unless you have a round edge (modelled) are rounding in the normal map surely. There is supposed to be edge rounding, but I've never got it to work :)

Only place I've seen it in Octane is under specular material. May have to model it...but can't do it with over 90 degree smoothing, as my model has the arch and the triangulation of polys causes some very weird smoothing issues when over 90. Shame really.

Might try nurbs...

edge rounding in Octane has been garbage since it was first implemented. Despite the numerous forum threads on the issue it still has not been addressed
