Maya® Version Requirements

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

I see the colour option for lights has been removed all together now?

Will it re-appear in a future version?

HI Jim,

Still a problem to import the shaders is better but doesn't work for transforms and projections.
I think still not right with different combinations. add some print and orbx scene.

Hi Jim,

Please could you review the export they export completely wrong compare to the export as before.

basically scale the camera but not the mesh. if I have scene scale set to 0.01 when I export to standalone they are wrong mesh are scaled 1 and camera the right scale 0.01  .

For me is looking weird between cameras and mesh hard to know. with older version all fine.
Please Could you fix is a big change in the pipeline for Us.

Cheers :D

Hi JimStar,

when I use the scatter attribute in Maya the visibility of the parent group is ignored.
Let's say I have a group with cubes that have a scatter attribute. When I turn off the visibility of the group this will not affect the instanced cubes. They will be still visible during render.
Is there a way to change this?

( I was using Maya 2014 + Octane 2.24.1 for the test.)

This is was the case with the older versions also. What we did was scale to 0 the instances. and is working fine. Hope this help as quick solution would be good to have the features right. But working also well in this way.

I've just tried - works OK on my simple tests... Could you give me the scene where it is reproduceable?

Hi JimStar,
good to see you around.
I have extracted a small part of the scene which illustrates the problem.
Hope that helps.
Thank you

Hi Jim,

I did more tests, and I realize before the camera select on the viewer was export and now take from the render settings. and if I have persp select give me a default position are export on strange way.

for this example here is the actually camera from the alembic export is not right please check the scene called Export_Test_check_abc.orbx
weird thing happening. I will try to find a scene with the mesh size so I send you to. Please have a look and give me your thoughts

Cheers
JO
