years ago i used vray, and i remember i could use a texture called something like environment map and when i used the attached texture, it got some very nice grass.

i have tried to do the same in octante, but not succeeded (tried to find the vray example, but no success neither). does anyone know if it's possible to use a mape like the attached one in octane?

thanks

It is possible (see manual), as long as the image doesn't take up too much memory.

I think the answer is no for the "classic" way. The trick by my grass texture was to use the vray environment projection for the ground material. At Octane materials the env projection seems to be not available. Workaround: at Octane it could work if the plane is a shadow catcher and the grass env image is set as environment. But since you can set independent environment maps for GI, background , ... this method is quite limited. I wished we could get independent env slots for GI/background/reflection/refraction for more artistic freedom.

You can use some trickery to have both a ground plane and a sky dome.

I've uploaded an ORBX a while ago, you can go into that graph and replace the images in the two image texture nodes.
