I think with full script node API + OSL textures, procedural nodes like this should be easy for us and 3rd parties to add to Octane 3prehabitat wrote:Pretty awesome, gordonrobb wrote:A very quick play. OTOY Devs; is this kind of live map creation possible within octane 3 using the UX changes and/or Lua?

I'm not sure why. Quixel Suite is fundamentally a texture painting tool. It's for creating the textures that will be used by the renderer. They are working on an Octane Exporter as well.prehabitat wrote:Pretty awesome, gordonrobb wrote:A very quick play. Not trying much. A simple bit of geometry, exported with a UV. I was thinking * that painting using a native octane procedural in the scene (ie with all the context & coloured second-hand light rays) using the algorithm and environment from the final scene rather than an alt-tab, single-model refine & sync would be preferred.gordonrobb wrote:I'm not sure why. *note: not really my field, but I f I could get all my (applicable) materials procedural based and make in-scene tweaks using my Wacom that'd be pretty cool. Would rather the functionality within octane then elsewhere. Already enough stepping stones in my workflows

Ah ok. might be worth mentioning in a feature request thread. No guarantee the developers will look at a thread about an extremal texture painting app.

Just got into new round of beta testing. If anyone is interested go to polycount forum @ www.quixel.se and ask to join.
Been fiddling around with this few hours and this is a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

That's great. Can't wait to see what you guys can do with it. I'm still hacking around with trying to turn on ald high poly mesh into a lo poly, but the bits I've messed with the suite, are a blast. Here's my latest update (material is merely a test of the Low poly and UV)

Since there is not yet Octane presets available, what do you use for Octane?
I have thus far tested only Maxwell maps and got a pretty decent results..

I still don't know how they're going to implement an Octane preset until an IOR map input is introduced in Octane V3 through OSL. Until then you have to export a metalness map and use it to drive a Mix Material.ristoraven wrote:Since there is not yet Octane presets available, what do you use for Octane?

I also find that the roughness map needs a little tweaking coming out of any of the other presets.
