I agree on everything.
But now it is clear you can not select a single geometry, assign a material, rotate, zoom to select, scale, reposition. It can not be compared to an gizmos. It does not replace, not even remotely a Gizmos. Placement node is useless.
In fact, they lack all the basic functions, and we are the third version. The workflow with octane render is good only with the plug-in. Maybe!!
On the roadmap there is none of this apparently. My fault that I believed in an update to version 2 with gizmos.
Of all the questions I had no answer....
Am I wrong or is written. "Generic forum to discuss Octane Render, post ideas and suggest improvements."
I do not buy software without basic functions for the third time. Apparently, I did not understand the purpose of the software.
I'm not complaining, post ideas and suggest improvements.
Thanks!

Hi,

Good to see openVDB in OR3.

Is there any news on OSL support? This would be a game changer for us and would open the doors for deep studio support for Octane through out the studio.

Best Wishes,

Paul

I'm realising that a lot of you want tools to place geometry around more easily; therefore I'm bringing a special mode for this to Phantom Scatter. It will export seperate *.CSV files per object type. I will provide easy gizmos for reference width/height, position, rotation and scale.

Yes, OK! but we are talking about Gizmos on Octane! A gizmo inside to Octane Render.
The problem is still there. :?

In 2.1 there is an experiential feature called 'scripted node graph'. In V3 this becomes an official feature and it will be used to modularly extend and revamp Octane and its UI, across SE, plugins and ORC. This will be for things that range from shadow view ports in GL to light fields to media publishing and more. We also announced a C API plugin system for 3.x . The goal is to decouple core rendering releases from the functionality that can be implemented in UI/node modules created by us or others on top of this more flexible 3.x framework.
