Here is the tyre material setup. Actually the roughness is what makes the surface semi-wet. Just stretch any noise procedural texture, and the black parts will become shiny and white will be more rough thus reflecting less, that's what gives the road these small "pools" of water. for the tyres i just stretched it along the tread axis in max and that gives a feeling of the wheel wear. I also attach the tyre texture (mine) and bump texture (free over net).

Thanks Radiance and the whole team!

I think you'd do good to submit this in our still comp ;)

Monaco 1986! The notorious narrow F1 race with the tight dark tunnel...

I'd like to submit this one, but i don't know if i have enough time to complete it...! :?
And the motion blurred is my favourite one, but i know it's not allowed as it was made with photoshop as post :D

i left it bake for 1hr40mins at full 16000 samples (GTX275) , but we all accept that hdr as lights is not the way to do it (yet) and this is what produces the fireflies still visible on the road. But still i think it all blends well together. Can't wait for 2.3!

How are you doing the lights in the tunnel?

I just created an HDR image in photoshop, set the exposure up high (somewhere at +6) saved it and loaded in octane, where you can play with the gamma and power to fine-tune it. But that's not the efficient way to do it, i was just impatient for the area lights :D

looks great ;)
i'd submit both the motion blurred one and the non-postprocessed one if you're submitting to the still comp.
not sure what the jury members will say about the post-processed motion blur as it's not in the rules...

Did you know that....

The famous hairpin of the monte carlo race is so steep that the front left wheel of a F1 car does not touch the ground? ;)

huge WIP! car textures are flipped too :D
