Hi

I've done some testing with the new plugin and despite it being stable overall, there are two things that cause me trouble, which I haven't seen mentioned here so far.

1. There seems to be a problem with saving environments and render settings in a scene (and maybe other Octane settings I haven't checked so far). They behave very erratically after the scene is saved and loaded again. Sometimes they work, but usually they simply reset to default on load. I basically must save a screenshot after I set up my environment, because I can't count on it loading properly. The same applies to saving render settings. I should mention I work on a scene previously set up in v2.1, loaded into 2.2, reworked and them saved again in 2.2. I haven't tried creating a scene from scratch in 2.2, so I don't know if it makes any difference.

2. Octane often crashes when using "Select DAZ surfaces & OctaneRender materials" tool in Octane viewport.

Anyone else still not able to rename material nodes in the NGE? I used to be able to name nodes in 1.x but ever since moving to 2.x it has never worked. It lets you select the name and edit it, but pressing enter doesnt save it. :(

Under environments I have 2 factory presets. "No Environment" and "No Environment (2) (2)". I assume the second one is a bug.

Ok, just tested with a brand new scene created from scratch in v.2.2 (just one V6 figure with custom environment and render settings) and the same thing happens (all octane setting have been reset to default after loading a scene). A major bug for me, dramatically affecting the workflow. I don't know how many other encounter that issue. I'm using DAZ Studio 4.8 if that's any help.

Just a thanks for the recently posted help in this blog about toon textures coming from normal maps! (Spectralis, Hubby72, SiliconAya, Hamer66, and others).
And Spectralis, thanks for creating the separate topic, it will help others with the same issue.

Previous toonish characters are now happy....much to Mei Lin's dismay...

so whatever you have to say or ask - this will be the time.
Only one more day left of t_3's two weeks of being present in the forum. Or have those two weeks not started yet? Do the two weeks begin after t_3 has "added some details about this release", or has that happened already and the two weeks are now nearly over?

For those who are interested, a quick Genesis 3/Victoria 7 test render on OCDS v2.2.

I doesn't seem to give to much problems (only a very quick test ;) ) and nothing difficult except an experiment with redspec sss Shaders (from g2f) on the skin, genesis 3 summer character.

Vicky 7 looks really great. Can't wait to "play" with her after work :) Gen 3 seems to be a good one.

We will have a dedicated G3 / V7 shader today/tomorrow.

Complete with Genesis 3 / V7 - based transparency maps and shader structure improvements, not yet present in the G2 shaders.
We've tried to implement everything that made sense and was introduced with the most recent updates to OctaneRender.

Currently finalizing documentation - shouldn't be long fron now on.
We'll announce it here on the boards and in our journal :)

Is your new OcDS shader going to be sold at the DAZ store or somewhere else? If you're debuting a new OcDS product at DAZ's store tomorrow... that's impressive!
