Hi there,
I've been playing with the emission option in the medium tab of the specular material and cant get the emission to be only around the edges of the object I'm applying it to. When using native C4D materials it would simply be case of plugging the Fresnel shader into the relevant slot. However, I've tried this and I've tried using the Falloff shader in Octane and nothing appears to have any effect.
What's the answer here please?
Cheers,
Luke.
Emission - Fresnel effect?

I'd assume you could use a dirt shader to isolate the emission to just the edges. I'm sure thats what Uncia did in his example scene above (don't have octane at this comp so can't check for myself).

Hey thanks for taking a look at it.
What you've got is certainly a useful technique but it isn't a Fresnel effect.
A Fresnel works by constantly adjusting to where the camera points. So if you have a sphere, the sphere always has what looks like a ring of light around it wherever you look it it.
If I put your material on a sphere I get a load of polygon squares that make up the sphere... cos dirt doesn't work in the same way as a fresnel.
The sphere on the right is what I get with yr material. The sphere on the right is what I'm after (c4d native render shown).
Anyone got the answer? I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been addressed before....

Ok seems I have a bug...
I have no Emission Efficiency option in the Texture Emission shader....
Anyone know what I do here please?
Cheers,
Luke.

hi, it has not this pin. so that's not a bug. But i missed to change name to "texture" in nodes.bleepurchin wrote:Ok seems I have a bug...
