I have a problem reinstalling octane 2.2 update. As you mentioned on the Lightwave forum when I was asking about the uv map I updated the plugin. I now can't reinstall the plugin. As you can see in the attachment screenshots, I've done everything correctly. I've removed the plugin. Apparently the plugin can't find the dll file. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

At some point you are mixing wrong versions of the plugin .p file and the Octane .dll/.dat files.
Please, search this files in your hard disk to be sure that you don't have them duplicated in other folders and remove them. You need to be sure that the plugin .p file and the Octane .dll files are from the same .zip plugin file.

I've got the problem solved but I had to load the Windows XP version of the plugin instead of the normal 64bit version
in order to get it to work.
The file in C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\Octane-for-LW_2.16.0_Windows\Octane-for-LW_2.16.0_Windows\plugins_x64\plugin_LW11.6 doesn't seem to work on Windows 7 pro 64bit. When I install that version of the plugin. Lightwave tells me it couldn't find the plugin.

Weird, I don't have more reports about this kind of problems in the 2.16 build. Anyway if the XP version works you can use it without problems, it has the same features and performance.
Can you please test the last 2.2 beta version to know if you have the same problem?

'How to setup rendering on amazon EC2 cloud'
with exported octane files. I've read the documentation, I understand it, but A video tutorial would make it more clear to me.

Sorry, I have no experience about how to configure the Amazon Octane Cloud Workstation or how it works 
Is there anybody else here using this service? ... perhaps you should ask in the general forum to see who is working with it.
