;) hi KillerBean

nice anim

about the probl u have,

well dont know if u know but this hows everything works,

maya2octacne script exports all (visible) object as obj (and as u notice export from maya may take some time, depends on amount of obj in the scene)

after that scripts sends everything to octane with settings for cam, lights, etc...

thats where my "work is finished", now everything what is happening is a part of octane part (i wish i could help)

could u paste some cmd line from maya so i could check what settings scripts exports (sends) to octane...

i hope radiance could join us ;) asap

cheers

Hi guys,

I'm currently sick and busy on 2.3.
any specific issues -> profide a clear report and make a post and pm me.
i can't watch everything that the same time.

also consider making use of the forum instead of one thread with 30 pages ;)

Hi guys,

Just to keep things manageable, can you stop making 30+ pages threads ?
maybe start making new posts per exporter version,
so the top one is always the latest version, and people can find stuff easier...

That would be more of a hassle for me since I just bookmark this one thread and follow it. I like the updated plug-in on the first page since there's never any old code hanging around to confuse people.

I think the problem I'm experiencing could be maya specific. Seems like maya is not very efficient when clearing memory. Could be an undo thing. Hmmm.... That's an idea. I'll try turning off the undo cache in maya when rendering next time, to see if it speeds up. I don't know why the memory usage keeps building up after each frame.

Anyways, I'm trying an HD anim render at the moment for further testing.

Thanks,
Jeff

Maybe the same as in Softimage...
The buildin obj-export have a memory leak.
To test it, make a big scene, show the ram and export the scene with the buildin obj-export.
Then check the ram after the export.
If the resulting obj is 50mb, then the obj-export/maya use 50mb. Export it 10 times, then you have 500mb less memory...

With Maya 2011, I have issue when exporting animation. It only renders frame 1. And that's it, nothing else happening. It's fine with 2010.

@bazuka

yes, I am still experiencing this. very strange. not scene related, because I tried with a simple cube translation, but still it stuck on frame one. it renders frame one in Octane, it jumped back to Maya, and ... waiting ... nothing.
