import and texture

hi

i have downloaded this fine model

but i can't figure out how to fix / convert the materials.

if i open the max file and use the octane "material convert" all textures gets "texture is missing".

if i import the obj file, the textures are not setup :-/

does anyone know what i do wrong?

you probably need to relink bitmaps.

thanks for your input - but it's not as simple as that :-/

i have attached three images.

obj.jpg
shows how the materials look like when i import the obj file - no images linket at all :-/

max 1.jpg + max 2jpg
show the missing material in the max file :-/

vray
this shows the errors i get when i open the file - as i don't have vray. could this cause the problems?

Correct. If max can't see inside the vray materials due to not having plugins then Octane can't either for conversion.

obj does not have correct materials or maps.

fyi:
Did a quick convert and rezipped. saved as 2012. no love given to the mats almost a simple convert - just repaired broken bits and links.

well - i tried to install the vray demo 31003 for max2015 x64.

it seems to fix the missing dlr's, but 3dsmax crashes when i use octanes material converter tool :-/
