Hi all,
I have been using Keyshot until now, but made an upgrade to Octane.
It is great and in terms of speed they are not comparable, but there is one feature that I miss very much from Keyshot... and that is Labels... I havent found a way to simply place an image onto the objects surface.
In Keyshot you simply select an image file and position it on the object...
What would be the easiest way to do similar thing in Octane?
Thank you all in advance

Octane Labels "ala Keyshot"

labels have to be "modelled" as objects, can be time-consuming.
Octane does have uwv-mapping
@ op what cpu are you using with Keyshot, and what gpu are you using with octane?

Yeah... thought so... but can be pain in the a$$ when I have a lot of small labels and when I am not sure of their position until I see it.whersmy wrote:+1

But I think that it would be great to have the Label feature in Octane as well.
- I render on two PCs, both have GTX 770, but one has i7 970 (hexa) and the other one i5 3570 (Quad).

I think Keyshot is the only renderer to have the labels option. While it's a bit fiddly to use, it is very useful.

yep, that's how I do it, and i do ALOT of bottles. If this is different than how the "labels" function in keyshot works, i'm interested to see how keyshot does it. i've heard other people specifically mention a "labels" functionality from other programs, so i'm wondering if it's something that's done differently.

You do know labels is literally just a planar projection aligned to the surface normal. Very simple to setup in your host app.

With Keyshot 6, it is possible to blend labels with the material of the main object.
