Hello everyone,
I have a strange issue since not that long ago. I'm trying to render a scene (very easy, Genesis 2, wall and some lights) but the render doesn't start. I keep having a black screen with nothing popping up.
- I tried exporting the scene as obj and import in Octane Render stand alone and it does work.
- I tried to update to the latest version of OCDS => same issue
- Latest NVIDIA drivers installed => same issue
Anyone know if I can remove some temp files or where to find them to get my Octane render working again in Daz Studio (using Daz Studio Pro 4.6)
Many thanks,
Andro

- which plugin version did you use when the problem did arise the 1st time?
- can you check the messages window in the system tab for any warnings/errors?
- in the standalone there is a log viewer in the help menu - also check that.
- does this happen with this particular scene only, or with everything?
- to maybe find out a bit more a screenshot of either the plugin viewport or the standlone viewport (with render status below) would also help.
a black output probably means some hardware related issue...

Hey T_3
- Plugin version I used before was probably 1.55 (OCDS4) which I downloaded about 2 weeks ago
- Messages says the plugin is running and that is all.
- The stand alone runs smoothly
- Happens with anything I'm rendering, even a blank scene
- Added both screenshots for you to have a look.
I don't think it's hardware related as I have Octane working correclty and all games don't have any issue (NVIDIA Geforce GTX 680 with 4GB memory)

This may sound like a stupid question, but:
Did you try a basic scene, say a sphere and a daylight environment?
And what is interesting, your viewport screenshot says, in the top bar, "waiting".
Does it ever get beyond that status?
I had something similiar happen once, took me a while to figure out... My camera was just a tad behind the meshlight plane - black render...
Just some ideas, maybe they help.

sry, i misread the line "in octane it works" with "it doesn't work" - so of course not hardware related.
if i recall my interface right, the "live" button should be yellow if activated. since it is not, it means the geometry isn't automatically loaded when the viewport is first opened. so you either need to activate live, or click reload?
and just out of curiosity: is that correct, that you only have mesh lights in the scene, but no environment? would explain why the render is just black instead bright (and empty)...

Issue solved ^_^//
It was that I had to press on the Live button :p
The scene is not empty but very basic as I was testing skins in Octane, so there is 1 Genesis 2, 1 plane on the back, 1 meshlight and 1 camera.
Configuration is like this:
Meshlight behind camera
Wall behind Genesis 2 to have a backdrop.
Thanks everyone

Get "Building Geometry" in the viewport but nothing ever happens, when using the Daz Studio plugin.
Octane stand-alone renders fine. Demo Cararra plugin renders fine. Can't be hardware if it runs in those two apps.
Running v1.2 of the plugin as that is the only version available to me in the "Downloads" section of my account. Have a registered version of Octane 2.16.
Running NVidia GeForce GTX 745, 4G RAM with the latest driver (347.09).
Thanks
JM

Well, I found another version of the Plugin (v.2.1)...NOT the one in my "Downloads" area. The new plugin works!
I would HIGHLY recommend to Otoy that they have some option available to download the latest plugin version. I have spent the past 7 hours trying to solve problems on a plugin version that simply didn't work (v.1.2).
Is there a reason the 2.1 version was not available for me to download from my "Downloads" area?
Thank You
JM
