I am using hdri for lightning a scene but I don't want octane to use it as background I would like instead a solid black background ? How can I do that ?

Hi,

Currently this is not possible.
Octane was primarily developed as a physically correct engine, and although we will be adding deviations like these in upcoming versions it's not yet available in beta 2.2

I noticed I have to use blurred hdri to get less noise or at least it's gone faster, can you confirm ?

at this time a blurier environment does produce less noise.
We're working on newer algorithms that will improve performance on sunlight and high variance environment maps.
the upcoming beta 2.3 will offer several improvements.

probably best to use the hdri background to light the scene with alpha channel switched off.

then put the rendered image into Photoshop and add a black background in there behind the rendered image.
