Inside that, you'd have StandardCameraProvider.ms, etc. which would be based on a template where you need to provide certain params for the Octane equivalent. The main script would then scan and load the Provider scripts as they're needed (as it encounters an item of that type that it needs to export). I think this would be far more maintainable. I may give it a shot over the next week.
You mean so you don't have to hardcode all the different flags to octane? You would still need to add them though..
Anyway, when rib/collada is supported, i think this script becomes obsolete...

I've setted my scene, in max2octane I've set it all like this, and here is the error

Image

so after I pressed Render, I've set my scene the way I like, and saved it, I than imported it with "use existing project", and pressed render animation

first I got that cmd window... than it entered octane and I got the "not useable" error, and 100 times like that (my animation had 100 frames)

but once I forgot to click use existing project after I set my octane the way I want it...

than it started to open 100 octanes with cmd window and they all started to render, but the weird thing is that all materials and hdri maps were in octane like I adjusted them, only the aperature for DOF was high and blurry, and I do not want that, than I had to restart...

is this a bug or?

Thank you

Vjekoslav Kiralj
and I forgot to mention... I'm using max 2010...
when will 2010 version of the script be updated?

2010 version works.. I've never had any problem with this.

BTW Check your installation, you are using the (old) 2008 version.
Install max2octane 1.022d for max 2010+

let me know what happens..

But we will always need some sort of script to control the different Octane flags no?

Radiance should probably answer this, but i doubt there will be any problem getting all necessary data from the other exporters (collada etc)
But i really don't know :)

Hi,

I think our exporter plugins/scripts will never be obsolete.
Whatever the backend format is, they will only improve.

We're currently using OBJ, which is just a simple object format with simple materials,
yet it still requires plugins to control octane.

When we switch to another format with more features, the scripts remain usefull for controlling features unique to octane,
and they can still implement whatever format works best for the host app in question.

When I hit render,it jump out the export process window, when I hit done, that should be start Octane and render, but octane is not~what's up??
BTW,I use max2octane_1.022c + 3dsmax2009x64 +xp64,but i am not sure that if 1.022c suit for 2009?~~

I'm getting this same "obj not usable" error, with the latest script and max 2009... the render button gives the error too (not just animation)

1.022c? I guess you mean 1.022d. Anyway that is for max2010+, you have 2009 so....use the other (Max2Octane 1.022_2008b max2008/2009 version)
I changed the text so it is more clear.

@Proupin: Same goes for you, use Max2Octane 1.022_2008b max2008/2009 version
