To test it, use a sphere, export it, sunlight on in Octane and play with Material smooth on/off.

hi there .
my problem has nothing to do with smoothing ,after i export a scene from C4d i cant apply any images to the meshs
anymore ,only takes colors.works fine with riptide .
cheers

I think this is the relink mechanism of Octane. That means, if you have already saved the first export as OCS file, Octane ignores changes in the materials of the exported OBJ/MTL file combo.ribrahomedesign wrote:hi there .

What do you mean with "works with riptide"? Are you relinking an already existing OCS file with a new OBJ export or are you also creating a new Octane scene?

hi
it works with riptide makes me believe there is nothing wrong with my texture maps,i think.
strange is : even if i try to apply a different image with a new name, to a mesh i exported from C4d it want load it?
a other strange think is :if i create a object within C4d ,Plane ,cube and i apply a texture map to it,it export it perfect
all the texture map i apply to the object witch are comming from my cad programm do not export ?
i hope you know what i mean .
i am using Archicad 12 for my modeling
cheers

Ahhh, I it may be missing UV maps. Do your objects have a UVW tag? Which texture mapping do you use? If you use another texture mapping than UVW mapping in C4D, the exporter does not convert them UV mapping yet. For now you would have to do it manually in the object manager. I will try to add this in a future version.ribrahomedesign wrote:hi

i am using cubig projection ,i will try with UVW mapping and let you know
thanks a lot

Ok, sorry that I didn't think of that earlier. I started working on automatic object splitting using polygon selections and automatic texture conversion to UVW. When that is done I hope the main export issues are solved. This will be 0.04 and after that I will finally do the animation work.ribrahomedesign wrote:ok ,i think we getting there.
