Hi Guys,

The problem is that I cannot see the drive anymore.
It does open end close.
I checked the wires, but maybe I should check it better?
What could be the cause?

It used to work a long time ago.
Since it did not work properly I worked around it by using a cd-rom dirve of another PC when needing it.
Now it is getting very annoying and I want to get it working again
.

Still not working (been 8 days)?...

Does it show up as a drive in Windows Explorer > Computer?.. or in Device Manager (right click on Computer and select Properties)?

A cheap external USB 2 dvd drive is an alternative ($15 on AMZN), if you can't easily get this bad-boy working...

Does it appear in bios?

It may be down. I had similar issue years ago.

Thanx for you response guys,

It still bot working, but I did not try yet.
I will follow your suggestion and get back here with result.

Now the thing is that my other PC also does not have a cdrom available,
because I left it out when transforming my old PC from the old case to a new one.
I left it out, because I want a maximum airflow and now Ihabe a third fan doing his job with no cd drive being in the way for the airflow.

Now I have three pc'c.. One without cdrom hardware, and another does not work, and the third one is OK
I use 'the one' shared over network when I need something to install with dvdrom.

Now here almost is the question...
If I would need to reinstall windows 7 on a PC without cdrom... How should I do that?

Cheers,

If you do go external USB, I think most newer BIOS allow you to set USB devices as (first) boot device for installing Windows etc.. er.. right guys?

Frank is right:

1. Set boot from usb as a first boot in bios.
2. Follow http://wudt.codeplex.com/
