Hi Laticis,

Here you can see example of EVGA Precision X, just to make sure the GPU are seen or not seen in other software then Octane.
Btw:
You also can see the one TitanZ enabled twice in Octane preference, and showimg a TitanZ two times as the GPU being used for rendering. You can see that it is also two times shown in Precision X, bit is just my one TitanZ videocard.
Greetz,
good or bad idea: 5.5K euro for machine 2xTitanZ

Hi
Small update....crap. LOL
Well I don't think the GPU was installed properly, the GPU's Extra Thick Plate is colliding with the Ram Module Clips,
there is no way that GPU can fit there for this reason.
I have two options, Op 1 is to try a reconfigure the layout x 2 GPU + x 1 Hard Drive on this motherboard while keeping 16 Channels accessible to both GPU's
Op 2 - wait till Monday arggggg....and ask the suppliers for solution ( which they will be informed of anyway )

Laticis,
1. Indeed there is no space between ram clips/levers and the gpu back-plate - in my rig the back-plate literally touches the clips. I think that EK thought about it and that is way my gpu fits, but the stock titan Z back-plate is just to thick.

2. What you can do - looking at your motherboard and the pretty large case - just place your first titan Z in the second pci slot, and the second titan z in the last pci slot. You should have some room to do this.
3. The only hardware that affects the rendering speed is your gpu - core clock 74%, memory clock 26%. CPU and mobo don't. They may speed up loading a scene but not its rendering.

H Laticis,
I have a Titan Black without backplate in the first slot. I should have wondered that you have a TitanZ there,
But I had not noticed the backplate yet
I have my TitanZ in the bottom slot.
Can you not put the TitanZ in the second slot and the other in the bottom slot.
You will still have a slot space betweeen them.

I was monitoring temps and parts while rendering and I noticed that the CPU was doing a lot of work.
So, that is only while loading the scene then.
When doing an animation with rebuilding every sceneframe...the loading time is a crucial factor, and sometimes the loading part for each fraem will take even much longer then the rendering time of each frame. Therefor it is good to have an optimal system when doing this kind of rendering a lot.
So, for the loading part... What specs of a build are have influence to get maximum loading speed?

Hi Smicha and Rappet,
I had a PC Guru around before looking at our options and the reason we didn't lean to that option was due to bandwidth. ( PCI_E - 5 x 8 )
But thanks you your simultaneous posts its not going to hurt to set it up like that for a test run.
Thanks heaps
Will post results soon.
