hi again guys, i was wondering if i could render out an object buffer just like in the standard c4d render. i figured i would just use the old way in conjuction with the rgb from octane but i can't since i am using octane's spherical camera that isn't in c4d natively.
do i have to add a material color pass and then key that? i can't seem to find the right way to export my object's buffer...
thanks in advance!
Object Buffer?

if you need a few object's pass, you can put a objecttag and select objectid. it will assign random colors to each one. But you should read my last message.

you stated the buffers were deactivated in 2.11 (im guessing this is octane stand alone), i need to use the renderer inside cinema 4d however...
i put an object id tag on my object but i can't seem to find object id in multipass...
do i have to make two renders, one with direct lighting and one with something else enabled?
(sorry but i'm quite new to this)

no, only disabled the c4d's passes even object buffer. It's possible to use Octane's new pass system. But objectid pass is working with random colors. we will change this to similar way of c4d. See the image how works.

checking object id is slowing down my renders by double... is this normal behaviour? is there something else that can be done?

ratio is depended to many factor. If you have low maxsamples yes, try their settings to learn behaviours. But info channels will be calculated after normal calculation. Every layer will slow down the frame times, not render speed. Please check standalone topics for layers.
