Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • New 2.11 engine.
  • Fixed mix material UI bug (connecting the materials to attributes using the checker-button).
  • Fixed reshapable proxy motion blur bug.
  • New "Distributed tracing" attribute in passes settings.
  • New "Highlight compression" attribute in imager node.
  • New attributes in "Color correction" texture: Hue, Saturation and Contrast. Brightness scale and black level are removed from this texture.
  • New "Static noise" attribute in direct lighting and path tracing kernels.

Hi there, awesome with this new version :)

i just got a big problem. after i upgradet to 2.10 i have been unable to render animations. i have made a simple test with an sphere moving back and forth. but after my batch render is done. it has rendered out all the frames but the sphere stays at the same spot as in frame 1. i just installed the 2.11 to see if this bug has been resolved, but no. the problem is still there.

anyone else getting this issue ?

thanks.

Yes, I was able to reproduce it. Thanks for report. Will fix it in next version.
As a quick workaround - you can enable "Internal" motion blur with some minimal shutter time, it should work OK in this case.

Hi jimstar thanks it worked very well. uhm sorry but i just noticed another problem. i noticed that if i enable the internal motionblur and set it to maybe 0,100 or lower, my render keeps saying render complete without rendering anything.

your trick worked by setting the motionblur to 0,0001 but anything above makes my batch render fail.

anyway thanks jimstar ;)

Yes i have the same issue if the motion blur mode type is set to "none" or "subframe " I have no animation. If the mode is set to "internal" the animation render fine! (I use deadline)
I also have my render that are brighter with the 2.11 compare to the 2.04 version of the plugin and i'm rendering with the exact same scene.

Please, enable verbose mode in Octane settings (when using the 0,100 value), and after batch render finishes - check the mayaRenderLog.txt file in the project directory. Would be better if you deleted this file before starting the batch render, to let it contain the log messages from last session only.

Hi Jim,

Still having a few issues:

The Camera (gamma, curve, highlight compression etc.) work fine on a new scene, but not once I've worked on a scene for a while.

The network render slaves say 'wrong version'
In Standalone, the slaves are seen ok.
I've got all the software from what I can see.

cheers.
