Hi,
Now, the plugin works well, but Particles and Metaballs doesn't seem to work for me. Is this a feature that isn't supported yet?

Thomas

Octane can only deal with mesh geometry. Carrara does not translate Metaballs into mesh to they can't be rendered by Octane.
Octane also does not have a way to render non-mesh particles. You can, however, configure Carrara to use mesh particles. These will be recognized by Octane.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
1) When I use a Particle Emitter and use, for example, diamonds, these particles will be rendered only when I make a Carrara render inside the window. Using the Carrara Animation Slider will not update the Octane Render Window. Do I something wrong?
2) How can I render fluids without using Metaballs in Carrara? Pycloid? Or can I convert Particle Metaballs into a mesh?
3) If (2) is not possible, wouldn't it be possible to use a Metaball algorithm and create the mesh for Octane Render? Metaball algorithm doesn't seem to be very complicated...

Thomas

I will need to investigate emitter animations.tschwenke wrote:Hi,

I'll add meatballs to the list. Don't expect support for awhile. You should ask orion_uk how he did fluids in his animations.

Could we have some pasta with that too?Sighman wrote:I'll add meatballs to the list.

Have talked with Thomas via PM but for the benefit of others..Sighman wrote:You should ask orion_uk how he did fluids in his animations.
Its quite a simple solution tbh...
I created the fluid sim in blender (you can also use realflow) and exported it as an obj sequence...

Then import in to carrara with...

I dropped a few metaballs into a scene and I was surprised to see them render in Octane. Apparently, Carrara does convert them to mesh. I don't know why you are not seeing them in your scene. I don't have any complex metaball scenes in my library so if you can point me to one I will investigate further.

About Emitters
The plugin only supports emitting Objects. All others types, including Metaballs, are not supported. Here is a little clip demonstrating using a sphere primitive as an emitted object.

Hi,
Thx alot for your answer. In fact, I mean the Metaball PARTICLE object
A simple Metaball object works fine, but I never use it.
So, is there any chance to see Metaball particle objects "in action" with Octane render? Would be great.
orion_uk pointed out a great way to do it with Blender or Realflow, but sometimes, I just want to stay in Carrara... quick and dirty
