Apparently I have to purchase a plugin-license tu run this plugin, am I right? Standalone-License for 1.x isn't going to do the job or is it?

1.54 is deprecated and too old. You may buy 2.xx licences if you decide to buy. I'm not sure that 1.x license is available.
