How about the material ball? Does this render ok? (Right click the node graph and go to Materials->Diffuse, then click on it in the node graph)Veronique wrote:Hi,
I'm just getting started with octane.
I 've downloaded demo version plus simple test scenes from octane demosuite.
My graphic card (NVIDIA quadro2000) is quite old but should be compliant.
OS is Windows7 - 64bits
I tried several .obj meshes.
Loading and compiling seem to happen correctly but I can't obtain any image from any of the sample.
Message is "0 Textures, 0 Triangles, 0 Displacement, 0 Hairs. O Mesh..."
Can someone help please?
Thanks.

Hi and thanks for interest,
I've opened the chess_set_imagemaps.ocs from demosuite
I tried upon your advice to add Diffuse material in Graph Editor (but with no link to other items)
Selecting the item in the graph editor makes some description fields appear in the Node inspector. I can change them, but no image appear in the render Viewport.
Please see a screenshot as attachment .
Thanks again.

Hi
I looked at this thread as I'm having the same problem. I'm sure I have used a previous demo version on this Mac successfully but the latest demo gives me a blank screen and does show the alert no CUDA GPUs. However I have a Quadro FX 4800 which is more than capable isn't it?

I have CUDA Driver Version: 6.5.18 installed and I'm on OSX 10.9.5. I'm also using the Cinema plug-in but neither that or Octane stand-alone show any render, material ball etc. I'm very interested in how Octane's progressing so any help you can give me to get going would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cheers

Hi Rich,
No sorry, the FX 4800 only has compute capability 1.3 but 2.0+ is required for the latest version of octane.
Please see the 1st item of the FAQ here: https://render.otoy.com/faqs.php

That's a shame. I looked at the list of compatible cards but only a few of NVidia's cards are Mac compatible. Is there a list or forum thread where people discuss the best cards for Mac?
There is a Mac discussion forum here http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14 but i don't think you will be able to post there.
Fortunately, some GPU's will work despite the lack of official support.

hi, here you can find a list of Nvidia GPU that works with mac, it's an italian site but i think you can easily find some good info.LoopCorp wrote:That's a shame. please refer only to Fermi and Kepler series, since the new Maxwell cards are not yet tested under mac and partially under win. From Lion we can use almost any Nvidia cards under mac

it's hard to tell which is the best card because all depends from your needs and budget, Titan Black 6GB, 780ti 3GB, 780 6GB and 780 3GB are probably the best ones. But we are waiting for the new 970/980 to be tested with Octane for comparison.
Thanks, Bepe. I'll look into that.
