This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Carrara 2.0 - BETA RELEASE.

Carrara Version
This version requires Carrara 8/8.5. This version runs on 64 or 32 bit Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. The .NET 4.5 Framework is required.

If you have a support issue, please provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win 7, 8, 8.1)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Carrara version
- OctaneRender for Carrara version (ie. 2.06.0047)
- List what other plugins you have installed for Carrara
- The most important part of resolving a problem is me being able to re-produce that problem. So pls provide as much detail as possible in order for me to do this, and if the problem is specific to the scene, send me the scene.

Known Issues
- Carrara can crash when consolidating materials. (Edit->Remove Unused Masters->Consolidate Duplicate Shaders) The exact cause of this issue is still unknown as there is no reliable repeat case and I have not, myself, been able to reproduce this issue. If you can find a repeat case then I will reward you with great praise. It is highly recommended that you save you scene and close the ORVP before trying to consolidate.

I only noticed this just now as I'm about to report the animation sticking on the same frame issue again. You wanted diagnostics. Note this is from v0048 then, but it might be useful info..

CTRL-SHIFT-O still renders for me, not CTRL-SHIFT-R. Doesn't matter as I've remapped my keys, (although a good fix for new people). I'm in 8.1 Is this an 8.5 thing only? I confirm I copied the files over.

Also I tried to see which version I am in the program. Log doesn't go to that level. I'm checking atm by comparing the last modified date in the 8.5 folder vs the 8.1 folder. They are the same.

Try opening the RenderTarget settings. If there is a reset button then you are running 0049.
Maybe it is because you remapped the keys that the change cannot be seen?

From the log I don't see the new diagnostics I added. (The log is the diagnostics I was talking about). I don't think you are running the latest version. I'll get rid of that annoyance message in the next build.

When you run the installer do you change the install path to point to your 8.1 Carrara directory?

I didn't think that was working (changing the directory). Instead I am extracting into the 8.5 directory and then copying the whole folder to my 8.1 installation.

Is this ok?

[EDIT] I confirm I see a Reset button.

Yes it is still ok to copy the file but the installer should be working now.

Alright brilliant. I'll try the official way next time.

btw. first test of reset is a success. I'll hold fire in a final judgement until a few tests are complete, but a good start.

4 tests in with the reset button and no issues.

These are all simple camera move only animations, but still it is a good test of the stuck frame issue, which also has not re-occurred.

I'm still working on the larger model, which I think will be a good grouping of objects/ multiple objects test. Some CTRL-D duplication is involved, but not enough to test Octanes limits.

For simple animations and Octane material manipulation it's feeling pretty solid and reliable now. Great progress.

I've no idea how complex the single material CTRL-D instancing is, but I'd love to put Octane though it's paces with some of my massive scenes. The Ennis house video should be a good advert for the plug in for example.
