Hello.
Since I installed the plugin for sketchup I'm facing trouble with bump maps.
It doesn't take any great effect , I have to twist the uv around and scale the image .... Anyway, when I was using only the stand alone version everything was perfect .... I was just placing the image on my geometry and using a grayscale image for bump ....no scaling no twisting ?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong ? Is there any tutus About octane for sketchup ?
Thanks
What is the problem with bump ?
I totally agree - I can get bumps working but setting proper scaling size of a texture responsible for bump is so hard, almost impossible. The way the data for scaling are input should be similar to Standalone.
I'll reported it my comments. Please guys vote for any change you think is useful.

Hello there.
About bump maps i dont have any trouble (apart from the mapping SU limitations).
This is in Beta Stage so it need some work, but for now adding bump is really straightfoward.
Exemple.
Simple
a plane - add a texture material, convert to Octane material, go to bump, select grayscale image, choose the texture.
then you can easely see the bump, just tweak "power" and "gamma" to get the desire effect (the same way of StandAlone)
This is the same to roughness, specular, diplscemente...etc
harder
a plane - add a color material, convert to Octane material, go to bump, select grayscale image, choose texture.
In Sketchup Material Editor correct scale of texture to your desire. The material only has color and not a texture as diffuse so you can right click on the face with the material and "octane material" - "update Skecthup texture", then the texture used in bump will be diplayed in SU face. (if the material had a diffuse texture that would be the one displayed in SU)
After that you can edit "texure position" to you desire and all runs smooth.
OCT4SU assumes the scale of the diffuse texture, and the simple way to edit scale is in the Sketchup material editor.
I agree that there is room to improvment, let try to help out fuzzy.
this gif did not record all the screen, i thisn GifCam doesn work perfect with Windows8, sorry for that. But it shows what i said above.
cheers

That is stange....in the face you are assinging the material....are the "normals" facing the correct side?
