did a comparisontest with maxwell :
Must say, i'm quite impressed at this resolution, however for final rendering which was about 9000x9000 pixels
Maxwell won for final output. The endvisual wich contained some millions of polys watersplashes in the form of a hand
couldnt be rendered with octane due lack of memory on the videocards. I'll post a final image when it's released.

Nice picture!
It is nice to see someone doing comparison.
I wonder though, what if it's done with GTX480 *2,
since it got more VRAM and it is a newer architecture than FX3800.

I doubt any video card on the market can handle a 9k resolution film. It's 154 times larger than the 1024x512 standard resolution Octane uses. Maybe a tesla C1060 or a FX5800 could... but who knows.

Wow, would you say C1060 is worthwhile? Right now it's around $1100. And for pure RAM aspect, it's not that bad. But it's last gen GPU. But the C2070 that's not out yet is positioned at $4k... man that's a little bit hard to justify. How much RAM did it take you to render that 9k square image?

that's interesting, do you mean that with your tesla Octane accepts to render above the 4096x4096 "wall" ?

@9fly, if you send me a setupped scene with the right maxwell materials, I can run the test for you.
