Today I was on the unlucky side of CUDA Error 999 as well.
Not one render finished. All failed, sooner or later, with this error.
I now reverted back to version 2.0.10.17 of the pulg-in, as this one never had the 999 error occurring on my system.
Maybe it'll help on my end =)

Edit: ... nope, didn't help. I'm more and more thinking, that it's the driver version 337.88, which is causing all the trouble now.

Edit2: ... rendering the same scene again now, with one difference. I disconnected every displacement node. So far it's rendering at full throttle for quite some time now and that, without any problems. Which brings me even closer to believe, that there indeed could be a problem with using displacements in the current nvidia driver version.

Regarding the cuda error 999, keep in mind that if you are rendering and then get a 999, when you next open the Viewport, you may get that error re-reported (eventhough it hasn't recurred). This might be making it more difficult for you to work out the cause. If in doubt, restart Poser after a 999, then you such be able to better determine under what circumstances it is happening.

But definitely try underclocking your graphics cards to see if that helps.

I couldn't reproduce this. Are you able to provide a workflow that I can follow to get this error pls?

Paul.... I've done all this.. and in so far as under-clocking... I've never altered the Titan from the factory condition... too scare to cook it I guess.
What has happened is a new nVidia driver... seems to be the common factor in the 999 error.
Maybe Octane needs to talk to nVidia about their drivers. All previous installations of Octane, nVidia and the Poser Plugin work fine.
Changing hardware to suit a driver to me sounds like a backward fix.

You are absolutely right Deane. I've escalated the 999/displacement issue to Otoy.

Further bumming around trying to get everything back to normal found the recommended minimum nVidia driver of 335.23 and this latest plugin version for Poser causes the 999 error also.
So.... reverted back to 1.54.0.32 of the Poser plugin and 335.23 nvidia driver...and touch wood... it's behaving ok so far.

I have not have 999 with 335.23. Does the scene you are rendering have any displacement mapping? (Displacement mapping does not render in 1.54, which would explain why that version works if it is indeed displacement mapping causing the issue).

If ANYONE has a scene which is giving 999 errors - can you pls change the kernel to Direct Lighting, start to render, export to ORBX and send it to me?

Thanks

Anyone got an order number I can claim against to send this 999 error... LOL

I try to get you a scene in the next couple of days Paul... but maybe OTOY need to buy you a Titan card with 6GB, nVidia latest driver and Poser latest plugin... then you could create your own scene...

There are people with Titans using the same version of the plugin and Nvidia drivers as you that are NOT getting error 999's. So you really need to get a scene to me which produces this error, then I can progress a solution for you.
