It is really weird!
As these two parts are absolutely not bound to each other... Other than using the TCP communication... So, there should be no difference when you restart OctaneServer...:?
- What is in the Blender console in both cases (crash and no-crash)?
- When it crashes, is it always the same stage (you see the stage in render-window during export and render, as e.g. "Updating kernel")?..

Previously, I had a message in the console (the one shown on previous post). If I remember well it occured at "Refreshing server" stage, but now :

When it crashes, it is immediately when hitting the render or animation button or launch the render preview. It doesn't display any message in the console. I only get the popup window of Win 7.

I have just achieved to render with a car model, as well as exporting a static alembic file. So if no other trouble occurs I should be able to render/export.

The process is a bit tedious but a workaround is better than no solution.

I started to think that your 1.3 GPU may be some problem... Will try to install one on my machine and try with it...
And you can try to make some experiment too - remove this GPU and look how it will work without it installed...

I thought of that already, but I can't.

Without it installed I will have no display ! It is the only internal GPU.

My GPUs for rendering are external in a Cubix Xpander pro 2.

I bought the Cubix some time ago because my Computer couldn't host more powerful cards.

I still have two GTX 480 in spare that I used in my Cubix before the GTX 580 3GB, but my computer is not evolutive. I have a P5K motherboard and the PCIE slot where is the GTX 260 (the only 16X) can't host the GTX 480 (too long if I remember well ) and also the GTX 480 are some of the most consuming cards (250 w) and my power supply is not a Monorail and can't provide enough power on one rail for a GTX 480.

The second PCIE slot (4x) is for the external Cubix adapter for my two GTX 580 external cards.

I don't wan't to take any risk by modifying my harware config because I have very few money and couldn't afford any repair or replacement for a while and I have to work with it every day.

I've just tried to add the GTX-260 to my machine - no problems, all works OK... So, perhaps it's not the reason (but I don't have CUBIX here)...

I hope that future releases will solve the trouble...

As I have not yet been able to test the release, I would like to ask you two question I have already asked before :

1 - Does the new release take in account the real camera location for alembic export, even if a frame delay is set in Blender (Slow parent enabled) ? That was the cause of bad camera framing in previous version.

2 - Is it possible to avoid the alembic export to create different material nodes for different objects sharing the same material in Blender ? Currently, exporting a car with separated moving doors and wheels give a huge amount of material nodes : For example for the car paint, the alembic node contains one material pin for each door plus the car body ! And obviously there is more than one material per part. Simply for the four Wheels (Tire, rim, white side, Textured parts) I have 4x4 pins instead of 4 pins. I know that in Octane the materials are per object, but as the alembic node is one object, it is not logical that it contains so many materials.

To solve the trouble I need to find the reason of your trouble, and to do this - I need to be able to reproduce it... So far I'm not able to force it crash, even after installation of GTX-260 in addition to other GPUs in my system - all works absolutely soomthly... I'm rendering the long animation right now, no one crash...:?

I meant that if there is no obvious reason for this trouble... it might disappear by itself in a future release with no more obvious reason... with a bit of luck ! But Murphy's law is rarely on the good side !

What about my two questions ?

I need the scene where the slow parent does not work for you. As in my tests it works OK...

I will make a file tomorrow as I am not on my workstation now and have to sleep (it is 03:10 here and I have slept 3 hours yesterday).

 And for the question about multiplied materials ?
