Hey Guys
Probably a rookie question, but I have to ask it.
I got Laubwerk Plants generator. It creates great looking plants. Than I've put it into "cloner" and made a grid of 8 X 8 trees (64 trees as a result).
It hardly fitted in my 3GB GPU...
So after seing some animations with huge loads of trees and grass I have a question:
Is there any method of instancing which does not duplicate geometry? Or does it work in the way that never mind if using cloner or any other instancing method - duplicating this way any geometry just duplicates geometry and Octane sees it as any other geometry?
I just don't understand how do people create such complex scenes and run it on 3GB or 4GB GPU's???

Octane Standalone + Phantom Scatter generated .csv,
3dsMax + ITOO software Forest Pro helping to scater instance..
once You load first geometry the rest (instanced copies) comes almost for free =)
don't know anything how things work in C4D..but there was a Guy not so long ago
posting aamazing forest scene video (as far as I remember it was made in C4D)..
check thrue acttive topics =)

hi, you need to activate the "render instance" option in thr clone object or in the instance object
pay atention that only one level is possible in nested cloners, so if you have an instance object inside a clone object, only one of them must have the option enabled
i think that this is the link that glimpse was talking about:
