Thanks.

I'm curious how the internal views will come out. Like you're inside and everything is gargantuan.

Done, except for black gunk that seals the case screws in place.

The pressure gauge in its natural habitat!

Shame that it is so difficult to find high enough resolution background images that can match the clarity of the objects in a scene.

Awesome work, I followed this with great interest!

Just some small criticism. In the last render you posted the effect of the brushed metal is too outspoken. It doesn't feel as realistic as your other renders.

cheers,
Thomas

Thanks, Thomas.

And thanks for the crit. It's been bugging me too, and I don't know why yet. In other words, if I drop the normal strength on the brushed metal textures, they just look weak, and there doesn't seem to be any sweet spot where it works. My other thought was that, this is a very small gadget (only about 1.75" x 1.625"), so since we are magnified in, the brush metal scratches would be really huge and exaggerated. But, like you, it bugs me.

I toned down the textures a bit from your advice...I thought that just toning it back wasn't working, but I came back to it later and decided that it looked better with it pulled back. So, I started a new render and it was looking really good, when my GTX 260 that I use for Windows stuff died on me. Now I have to use the 560 (my Octane card) for Windows. So I guess I'm going to be without Octane until I get a new cheapy in my machine for the display.

I am 3Dless without an Octane to stand on!
