Hello,

Some human head renders we worked on with my colleague (used here as a model :) ) for GTC for people interested.
It's around 24 millions polygon, path tracing 16 bounces on 2K. Rendered with 2 TITANs in around 3 minutes each with Octane 1.5.

Cheers :)

Is the head 3D scanned? If so, what kind of scanner was used?

His eyes look so real.
3090, Titan, Quadro, Xeon Scalable Supermicro, 768GB RAM; Sketchup Pro, Classical Architecture.
Custom alloy powder coated laser cut cases, Autodesk metal-sheet 3D modelling.

Yep! That's Lightstage data set used here, if you remember the closed eyes one. It's actually the same mesh so we had to model it with eyes open and stuff.
And yeah, we modelled the hair, eyelashes and beard, as it's Fibermesh, it's like around 2 millions polys just for this
