can anyone please tell me in short, what has been changed/improved/added upon between these versions?
i tried to read the notes for about every release between them, but i have no idea what am i reading, i see words like ALEMBIC, LUA, etc... tossed around - what is that? I use Octane to create still renders of architecture/interiors - was there actually any major feature, which concerns that kind of work, therefore i should be interested in them? You know, like for example 360 camera, fake shadows for arch glass or HDR + sun combo - those were/would be worthwile additions for my kind of work...
Thanks in advance
going from 1.20 to 1.35...

Those were available already in 1.20aoktar wrote:fake shadows and panoramic camera is available
I agree that for users that don't follow the development every day, it may be difficult to understand what's going on with new versions, especially because there is no manual that comes with the release candidate.
In short, the new version support Lua scripting, Alembic format animation and it has a new node system.
I'm sure some other user can explain in detail what these feature are, but we should have a ONE OFFICIAL post where all these information are gathered, because at the moment they are all scattered in the forum, and it's impossible to find all you need to know.

There is the long development update post from November.
In short these are major features added since 1.20:

In short these are major features added since 1.20:
- Support for importing the geometry for entire scenes, including animations
- More flexible placement of image and volumetric textures (like rotations, spherical or cylindrical mapping, object space procedural mapping)
- Added object layer feature, which allows you to make objects in the scene invisible for camera or direct light rays
- Grouping of nodes into sub graphs with arbitrary inputs and outputs
- Lua script support
- You can pack your scene including all assets into a single package file

Thanks for your responses...
i need to look into these things in more detail now, but looking at that list i guess the only new features of interest for me personally are the UV mapping thing and then the object layer feature, since i dont do animations, neither have any experience or education with scripting/programming (LUA or anything else)...
thanks again
