ok.. on next crash i will copy the log…

but another question… if i render in the picture viewer… and i want to get 16bit tifs….
is setting "render buffer type" to "float (tonemapped)" correct?
i save as 16bit tif from picture viewer, but somehow i m not sure they are really 16bit
(the reaction seems flat if i change something in psd).
… there is nothing in the manual about these settings as it seems.

If you say that you got different result on this scene, really weird. It should be very similar as picture of CFrank. Can you put the output for this original scene?
This remind me a bad hdri images or wrong gamma settings. i think your setting is on for importance sampling, isn't?

Also save images was fixed a few million years ago. If you didn't reset render, it should work. Did you tried png8/16, exr outputs?
Hi Aoctar and other repliers,

it is weird. Yesterdy I had this bad results I showed but today the same scenes are perfect. Your scene untouched is perfect like yours and my scene as well. I figured out that the problems seem to be related to my big HDRI files (160 MB). Today Octane stated a memory error using such files. Yesterday the same files had no errors but may have been the reason for the noisy results? My graphics cards supply 2GB and 1GB. I thought that should be enouph for handling such fils. But obviously it is'nt.

Anyway - results look good now.

Saveing images is still not possible. Maybe I am doing it wrong? Under FILE > SAVE AS PNG16 ... it opens the SAVE-DIALOG, I put a name and save that into my RENDER folder. But no file is saved after. I tried that with images that have been rendered full and others that have been stopped rendering. No file is saved in either way.

Edit: the images were rendered in Live Viewer. When renedered in Image Manager I can save the files, but then the parametric spheres are not visible. Only if those are editable. Am I wrong or did you fix this issue a million years ago, too?

floatbuffer w/o tonemapped buffers are coming from direct Octane float output. It should give enough depth for that.

Hi,

I also have an issue with hdri and a emitter. I use PT and in live viewer it looks correct, but in render manager the emitter isn't visible.
Am I doing wrong something?

are you using a sphere by any chance to emit light? And if so, do you have render perfect switched on for that sphere?

after looking at your scene, you are indeed using a sphere with Render perfect checked. Uncheck that and you'll be good to go
